The true secret of manifestation is believing and acting as if you already achieved your goal. You need to live your life as if you already have what you want. It is more than imaging it in your mind. It is experiencing how you would feel living your life with your goal achieved.
The truth is, the brain cannot tell the difference between what is real and imagined. Therefore, if you Act As If, it will support you in manifesting your goal.
Most people struggle with the technique, Acting As If. In this article, you will discover how to master the technique and in doing so, transform your life.
Develop A Clear Vision
In order to Act As If, you need to develop a clear vision of what you want. Once you have a clear vision, ask yourself the following questions. What would your life be like if you started acting as if you already have what you want? How would you feel? How would you react to people and situations? What would your behaviours and mannerisms look like? How would other people react and respond to you? These are the things you need to consider to Act As If.
Belief
When you start to truly believe what you desire already exists, you automatically change the way you think and behave. For example, you know the sun will rise every morning, and you live your life according to that belief. You don’t sit around wishing and hoping that the sun will rise. In fact, you don’t even think about it because you just completely accept that it will happen. This is the same state of mind you need to develop when thinking about your goals. It is important to believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that what you want already exists.
Why not take a leaf out of a good actor’s book when they fully immerse themselves into the character they are playing? For that period of time, they are the character. Just as an actor can do this, so can you.
Daily Practise
For some people, this can be a big leap in thinking, so it makes sense to start practising Acting As If during your daily activities.
Let's suppose you accidentally burn your toast, for instance. Instead of reacting to that event, you can choose to see yourself instead sitting down eating perfectly cooked toast. At first, you might think that is ridiculous! I have burnt my toast and nothing can change that. Whilst this is true, what you are really doing here is training your brain to keep focused on what you want rather than what you don’t want. The advantage of doing this is that you are not constantly reinforcing visions of life not being the way you want. Instead, you are learning to control your thoughts and visions. In doing this, you will start to change the results you get.
Using another example, let’s say a family member or colleague makes a mistake. Instead of reacting to that event and making it worse, how about focusing on everything working out perfectly. If you were to do this, don’t you think that the issue would get resolved much quicker because your focus and intent is on the solution and not the problem?
Can you see how you automatically react to events instead of creating them the way you want them to be? Can you also see how this type of thinking is preventing you from achieving your goals? What you are unknowingly doing is reacting to events in your life in a way that doesn’t match your goal. You do this because that is how you have been conditioned to respond to life. You'll realise you're doing this when you feel negative emotions like frustration, anger, and sadness because life isn't going as you wish.
Wayne Dwyer once wrote a best-selling book called When You Believe It, You Will See It. Most people live from the opposite position. I will believe it when I see it.
Let’s take another example that may challenge your thinking. Imagine being caught in a traffic jam, rather than getting upset and bent out of shape, start acting as if the opposite is true. Feel yourself being calm, relaxed and see yourself arriving at your destination in plenty of time. Imagine and start thinking exactly as you would if you were not caught in a traffic jam. For example, free flowing traffic. I have a friend who uses this technique and every time the traffic just magically starts moving.
The Power Of Emotions
Admittedly, the concept of ‘Acting As If’ is easier said than done. The reason for this is when events don’t work out the way you want, most people tend to automatically react with negative emotions.
I have a theory which says Emotion stands for Energy In Motion. E = E+M. Your emotions hold a lot of power and play a large role in the manifestation of your goals.
Every time you experience strong emotions, you will charge that situation with a lot of power. Negative emotions charge your life with negative energy, whilst positive emotions charge your life with positive energy.
Every time something happens you don’t like, change the situation by seeing and behaving as if everything is the way that you want it. Start seeing and experiencing things as you want them to be, not how they appear to be.
The old saying ‘you cannot afford the luxury of a negative thought’ is true. Emotions give emotional charge or momentum to your thoughts. Therefore, it would be wise to start paying attention to your emotions, for they will indicate what you are unconsciously manifesting.
Your Brain Is An Order Taker. Not An Order Giver
The deeply hidden secret behind why most people don’t manifest their goals is because they go around reacting and experiencing the world as if their goal will never materialise. This is because they are constantly taking it out of existence with their thoughts and reactions. Your brain will always comply with your thoughts and emotions, making it your reality. Remember, your brain cannot tell the difference between what is real and imagined. It is easy to forget that the brain is an order taker, not an order giver. You are the one who gives it orders through your thoughts and emotions. Can you see how you might be unknowingly self-sabotaging your life and your goals?
If you want to start manifesting your goals, start practising seeing situations and people as you want them to be. Act As If everything is perfect. You will be amazed at how quickly your life changes. Your brain is powerful. When used correctly, it can give you everything you want.
Create Instead Of React
Have you ever noticed that it is the people who whinge and complain about everything that never get anywhere? Compare that to how successful people act. They don’t react to life, they create it. The words REACT and CREATE have the same letters, only rearranged differently to describe different outcomes. You have that same opportunity to rearrange your thinking and create different outcomes.
Conditioning
Admittedly, this isn’t an easy concept to get your head wrapped around due to the way your brain works. Your brain primarily works through conditioning. To operate effectively, you need to learn how to do things. Learning occurs through repetition and with enough repetition, it becomes an automatic behaviour or conditioned response.
If your brain had to relearn everything all the time, it would not be a very efficient system. Imagine, if you were having to constantly relearn everything, you wouldn’t survive very long. This is evidenced with people with Alzheimer’s who cannot care for themselves. You need your memory to survive and operate in the world.
However, not all memories and conditioned responses are positive. This leads many people to unknowingly construct a reality which keeps them stuck.
Act As If And Change Your Reality
The good news is you don’t have to stay stuck in memories and conditioned responses that are preventing you from achieving your goals. You can choose to change your reality by creating new visions and reactions that are in line with what you want. Practising seeing things as you want them to be in everyday living makes it easier to manifest your big goals. The only reason that you don’t have what you want in your life is because your brain hasn’t been able to create it yet. This is because you haven’t trained it to.
It takes practice and discipline to train yourself to Act As If. The same is true when you learn anything new. At first, it appears difficult and uncomfortable, but with practise it gets easier and finally becomes second nature. Your reward for doing this is you get to be in charge and create the reality you want!
